Coach's Corner

Coach's Corner

Dear Douglas Football Family and Friends,

Dear Eagles Football Family,

The 2018 MSD Football season is upon us, and we are excited to get it underway. We would like to thank the whole Parkland community, as well as the numerous amount of people throughout the nation, for your support thru our unbelievable time of need after Feb. 14. We cried together, mourned together, and continue to rebuild together toward being stronger than ever before. We lost 17 unbelievable members of our MSD Family and our thoughts and prayers are always with their families. We miss them every day, and work diligently toward trying to make them proud. #MSDSTRONG is not just a hashtag or motto, but a way of life for all of us who was affected on that day forever. We hope that with the help from our great Students, Teachers, Administration, Parents, and Boosters, we can all come out on Friday Nights and bring a community together with this beautiful game. We want to give ourselves a place where we can go to cheer, smile, and root for our hometown and display our strength and be successful.
Our 2018 MSD Team has put in numerous amounts of time, sweat, and determination in this season already. We had an excellent year in the classroom where we finished with a Team GPA of 3.52. We had 19 young men get into the 1000 Lb. Club in weight room, with everyone getting a great deal stronger thru an unbelievable work ethic by all. We have a lot of new faces in our program who improved greatly in our Spring Program, and look forward to what they will achieve this season. We return 4 starters defensively, and 6 starters offensively with others who got playing time in 2017. Our Staff is one of the best we believe in South Florida, and has worked relentlessly to make each and every player better on a daily basis. We have an incredibly competitive schedule in 2018, and look forward to taking each of them on one at a time.
We will definitely miss Our Coach Aaron Feis, and Our A.D. Chris Hixon who we lost on that day. But, we would like to honor them as well as the other 15 every Friday Night by leaving all our heart, effort, and Eagle Pride out on that Field. We will go at each challenge and #FeisUp - Playing Fearless, with Emotion and Intensity, and Sacrifice for the Team.
We hope you will be with us on this journey, and we want to thank the Cheerleaders, Band, Majorettes, Dance Team, Pep Squad, fans, and Parents because with you with us anything is possible! Let’s Fly Together Eagles!

I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

Frequently Asked Questons

Q.  Practice is scheduled during the time my son is suppose to pick up his schedule and his books.  What should he do?

A.  They can leave practice during their scheduled time to pick up their schedule and books.

Q.  The calendar doesn't show what time practice ends?

A.  Practice end times may vary.  We suggest that you wait for your son to call you when practice is over.  Mondays and Wednesday's practice typically run longer as the players lift prior to going out on the field.

Q.  If my child is struggling in class, can they attend tutoring at the school?

A.  Yes, please have your child speak to Coach May to let him know they will be attending a tutoring session.  After tutoring they can come to practice.

Q.  My child is an honors student and the practices run too late for him to get his work done.

A.  Many of our Student Athletes are honors and AP students.  They put in hard work on the field and off the field.  Each year we have some of the top academic students on our team.  It takes hard work and dedication to be a Student Athlete.

Q.  My son is on JV does he have to attend the Varsity game?

A.  Yes your son is expected to attend both home and away Varsity games with the team.  Buses will be provided.
