Athletic Clearance
Florida Athletic Clearance
Beginning June 1st annually, Broward County and the State of Florida mandate that all student athletes complete a comprehensive athletic clearance process. This includes an IMPACT test, alongside certification in concussion protocol, heat illness, and cardiac arrest through a series of three required courses. These measures are designed to safeguard student health, addressing critical concerns such as concussion management, heat-related illnesses prevalent in Florida's climate, and sudden cardiac arrest preparedness. Student athletes are individually responsible for completing these certifications, often through online courses provided by organizations like NHS. The IMPACT test is typically administered by the school, establishes a baseline for concussion assessment.
